Labofii

Since 2004, the Insurrectional Imagination Laboratory (Labofii) has brought together artists and activists to design and deploy forms of creative disobedience together. Consensus decision-making and assembly are at the heart of this process, which is always linked to radical movements while having a foothold in cultural institutions. Whether it is co-organizing the horizontal processes of Climate Camps, transforming theater stages into meetings to organize disobedience, facilitating mass discussions at Occupy London or at the zad de Notre-Dame-des- Landes, to coordinate shared life and the fight against an airport and its world - the Labofii has tasted many flavors of assembly. This lecture/film explores Labofii's experience in these different contexts and asks the question of how artists can use assemblies in the art world without becoming extractivist and losing the powerful potential of reciprocal relationships with activist movements.
